first live draw

1 min read
Thru the help of real artist, I got time tonight to make a live draw. Don't know what to expect. I'm hoping I can get a bit more done than when I draw people on the bus, at stops, the library and starbucks. (Darn people have a tendency to leave at the wrong time!) Of course that it takes me forever to get things "done" could be part the problem too. Here's hoping for the best.

I'm old today, but I'm taking time off. The plan is to draw for 3-4 days. See what I can do. I got My fair lady still. And thx to the great Katy Fox, some poses to work on.

Saw Losh's incredible progress in what's hot.  It reminds me of David's suggestion to re do one of mine.  I have been drawing for 2 years now, but hey it sounded cool to me.  In my first year, all my drawings were of paintings in the local museum. Worse yet, I was drawing the modern masters collection that was on tour, two paintings every couple of months.  So they were gone. What remained - the drawing of The Lady with a Perky Hat. I did it because it kinda reminded me of my older sister. First version is in a book on grid paper.
So I go in and discover... Museum's rotate paintings, lol.

The good thing is that I have become MUCH better at keeping copies of my sources for drawing. I suppose this is less of an issue for others, but a genuine pain for Realism artists.
NEXT YEAR....

PS: does it count if I keep drawing the same picture, cause I got a face I'm still trying to get right.

my fair lady

Started Audrey Hepburn while on vacation. Have gotten to the point where I'm afraid to put down lead cause I might screw it up... considering how little is done, I see this as taking a while.

My sister asked me to draw a cover for her book. The task is beyond my skills. I fail on simple realism and practice nothing else.  I told her I would give it a shot, not because I expect I will suddenly have talent, but because I want her to be happy.  So now I'm looking at a loose/loose situation. I KNOW my skill level. It's that of an amateur who started to draw late in life two whole years ago. Do the right thing, ALWAYS!.... So o stoic what is the right thing?
